Ahh... Charleston

Spent the weekend in Charleston with Adrian and Lennon.  I love that city.  Great food, great architecture, great shopping.... did I say great food?  Really need to go on a diet now.  Not that I didn't before I went.  Losing baby weight is a bitch.  Thought I would post some pitcures of some of the great Charleston homes that I love.

Photos courtesy of the good ole Internet.  Still haven't found that memory card.  I think it's time to buy a coolpix camera...

I just need to win the lottery so I can buy a place down there.  I don't need a huge place, just somewhere to sip and sip some Firefly sweet tea!

Great Kitchen

I recently had a post with pictures of kitchens that I really like.  The inspiration for the kitchen post was actually left out because I couldn't find it at the time.  But, I found it again today.  I LOVE this kitchen.  Something about it just speaks to me.  There are a lot of kitchens that have large islands and spaces to eat in, but this kitchen....  I love the island that looks like it could be a table with nice upholstered chairs around it.  Plus, the color of it is so soothing.  So without further adoo....here it is....

Designed by Erika Powell of Urban Grace Interiors

I love the contrast of the dark floors, the white marble counter tops, the farm house sink.  I could definitely see myself in this kitchen.

What do you think?  Did I build it up too much?

Love some fabric

It's been a while since I've had a new post.  I am so busy lately.  I am taking the series 63 investment test on Tuesday so there's been lots of studying and not much time for anything else.  But I have managed to work on the old dining room/new playroom a little.  And while I would love to post pictures, we still haven't found the memory card to the camera.  Looks like I'm going to have to such it up and buy a new one.  I have been wanting to recover a chair I put in the playroom, but just can't decide on a fabric.  I want to make sure I find one that I can live with for a while.  Just came across this lovely fun fabric from Waverly today.  Check it out.

These are all part of the new Waverly Modern Essentials collection.  You can find it at the JOANN fabric site.  http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/category.jsp?_DARGS=/joann/catalog/narrowselection.jsp.narrowresults1

Hope you like them as much as I do!

Great rug at Wisteria, great price at Ikea

I have seen this rug in the Wisteria catalog and on differnt blogs, and just saw it in the new Ikea catalog.  Not the exact same rug but pretty... pretty... close (channeling my inner Larry David there).  Take a look at the more expensive Wisteria version.

This is the Wisteria rug for $999.00 ......

And now the Ikea rug....
IKEA STOCKHOLM RAND Rug, flatwoven, black, off-white Length: 7 ' 10 " Width: 5 ' 7 " Length: 240 cm Width: 170 cm
This is the Ikea rug for $199 to $399.  Same design, much much less.  Pretty cool!  Really cool!  Anyone need a new rug???  I love it.  I think it would look awesome in my living room.

Dream kitchens

I just painted stripes in our newly created playroom last night and really want to post pictures of it and a cool tool that I discovered online that made the job a little easier, but alas the memory card to the camera is no where to be found.  Hopefully tomorrow I can make that happen.  Until then, I thought I would just post some pictures of some of my favorite dream kitchens.  Happy looking!

Love the light fixture over the table

This is a really interesting use of space in the middle of the kitchen

WOW!  Look at those islands!

Sunburst Mirrors

Sunburst mirrors are everywhere these days.  And I want one to be in my living room to be exact.  I recently painted the wall over the fireplace with chevron stripes (pictures soon).  And I have a large black square mirror resting on the mantel but I think a sunburst mirror or a round mirror would really highlight the space.  So I've had my eye out for a sunburst mirror that I like and can afford.  The search isn't going so well.  Not that I can't find a mirror, I can't find the money to pay for it.  Here are a few pictures of sunburst mirrors I love.

These are great sunburst mirrors from ballard designs.

Another idea I think would look good too and not as expensive is a quatrefoil mirror.

These are from Ballard, but I found one at Lowe's Hardware for around $69.

It's not quite as fancy, but for the money you'd save it would definetly make a great space filler. Still loving the sunburst, but who knows what will end up in that space.
